Martines grandma changed at the end of the book and was nice to martine. She said she was just trying to protect her but she did say she was a little rude.
Martin's grandma changed at the end because she told the story of the White Giraffe to Martine and Martin's grandma told her how Martine was born at Sawubona and how she had to go somewhere else besides Africa. And her grandma told her about the child who rode the White Giraffe would have special powers and Martine's grandma didn't want Martine to be the child so she had to send her away. Then she started crying and thats how Martine's grandma was nice at the end.
At the begining of the book her grandmother doesn't relly like Martine and was hard on her but on one morning Martine came and help with the garden with out her grandma telling her and when her grandma saw her do that she started liking her
